Govinda Bader - Rolfer in San Francisco and Berkeley

I received my Rolfing Certification in 2003 from the Rolf Institute in Boulder, Colorado. I discovered Rolfing in my own pursuit to unlock my postural patterns and heal my body. I was initially impressed by how effective Rolfing was at getting to the root of my structural and movement patterns and was later drawn to the rewarding nature of working with people as they heal.

I am known for being gifted at blending both the practical, analytical aspects of bodywork with the intuitive. My approach is dynamic and is custom-tailored to my clients' unique needs. I am a longtime student of yoga, dance, anatomy and movement, biomechanics, postural patterning and emotional and spiritual growth work. My presence is grounded and playful.

I am committed to educating my clients about their bodies so they can take a more proactive role in their healing through self-care. I frequently teach specific yoga postures, stretches and movement sequences to compliment my hands-on work and deepen my clients' embodiment of the results.

My natural teaching skills have also landed me roles as an anatomy instructor for an Anusara yoga teacher training as well as a teaching assistant to Art Riggs and Til Luchau; two Advanced Rolfers who teach bodywork courses in San Francisco.

I have a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology from California Institute of Integral Studies and am also practicing as a psychotherapist in San Francisco and Berkeley. To visit my therapy practice, go here -

I also have a B.S. degree in Business Administration from Humboldt State University in Arcata, California. My business degree was timed perfectly for the dot-com boom of the late 90s, but after several years of working for internet companies and the subsequent burst of the dot-com bubble, I set out to follow my passion for health and healing.

Outside of bodywork, I am a seeker of wholeness and untangled-ness. I have traveled extensively in Asia and am especially drawn to Thailand, where I have been known to receive daily 3 hour Thai massages for weeks on end. I am also a lover of music and play both the bass and the guitar. I enjoy exploring nature and thrive in warm weather.

And yes, Govinda is my real name...hippie parents!
